proyectoamil invites you to the opening of Capitaloceno on June 13, 2026, at 5pm at our space in Barranco.

Capitaloceno brings together works by more than 30 Peruvian and international artists around a central question: how do contemporary economic, technological, and environmental systems shape the ways we live, think, and relate to the world?

The concept of capitalocene proposes that the current geological era is defined not simply by human activity in the abstract, but by a specific mode of organizing life: global capitalism, with its logics of extraction, production, and consumption. From this perspective, the show examines how these dynamics transform not only the physical environment but also social relations, systems of value, and our perception of reality.

The exhibition emerged from a series of conversations conducted over the course of a year with different artificial intelligence systems. Rather than treating AI as a mere production tool, the project engaged it as an interlocutor: a space for dialogue and reflection embedded within the same technological conditions the exhibition critically addresses.

Through a range of media, the exhibition explores themes such as automation, environmental crisis, and human singularity, while also reflecting on values that appear increasingly fragile in contemporary societies: empathy, gratitude, humility, and altruism.

Bringing together diverse generations, geographies, and artistic practices, Capitaloceno proposes art as a space for rethinking our relationship with technology, the environment, and contemporary forms of life.
