Oslo National Academy of the Arts is the country’s largest educational institution for artists and designers. Oslo National Academy of the Arts consists of six departments: Academy of Dance, Design, Academy of Fine Art, Art and Craft, Academy of Opera and Academy of Theatre, and offers a variety of educational programmes at bachelor and master level within these fields. The academic community is active in research, artistic development and dissemination. Oslo National Academy of the Arts is located in new premises at Seilduksfabrikken on Akerselva’s riverside.
The Academy of Fine Art currently has a faculty of 18 staff members, over 80 guest teachers from Norway and abroad, and 105 students across the bachelor and master programmes. Artistic practice is at the core of the Academy of Fine Art’s activities and we aim to offer a stimulating platform for its development amongst students and teachers. We work across media, disciplines and approaches, dealing with formal and material concerns as much as post-conceptual, social or political issues.
Information on positions:
Two fixed-term positions as associate professor/professor of contemporary art are available at the Academy of Fine Art, Oslo National Academy of the Arts. The positions can be divided into 50–100% and are fixed-term positions for four to six years with the possibility of extension for a further period after public announcement.
We are seeking an artist with an artistic practice on the highest level and a distinct interest in art education. A central task will be to participate in efforts to create a vision and direction to the Academy’s profile and research in contemporary art practice, together with the dean, programme coordinators and academic staff.
The work tasks will include include teaching, research, production of exhibitions and events, evaluations, jury and committee work, as well as participation in administrative tasks relating to the Academy as a whole and his or her field of responsibility. The associate professor/professor reports to the dean.

– Salary on level 64–71 (549400–628200 NOK per year) for associate professor (SKO 1011) and level 69–76 (601700–693200 NOK per year) for professor (SKO 1013), depending on qualifications. For an especially qualified applicant, a higher salary may be considered. 2% of the salary will be withdrawn and deposited in the Government Pension Fund.
