HEAD—Genève, Geneva School of Art and Design, is one of Switzerland’s leading schools of art and design and its influence is recognised at an international level. Its Department of Interior Architecture / Space Design, unique in French-speaking Switzerland, offers three-year Bachelor courses which can be extended by a Master’s in “Spaces and Communication” where emphasis is placed on the design of exhibitions (cultural, commercial, scientific). The Department is home to 120 students and a team of around fifteen teaching staff, all active in the field of architecture, interior architecture and design (space/furniture) and conversant with technical and theoretical aspects. Added to their number are many international guest speakers.
HEAD—Genève is an influential player in a wide international network of schools of art and design and is very involved in the cultural life of the city. Its high-level technical facilities and specialist staff encourage project-oriented teaching. Its organisation puts Heads of departments in charge of their teams, offering wide scope for independence, which includes the recruitment of staff, the implementation of professional projects and the pursuit of research. Each department has dedicated secretarial staff and assistants.
Rate of activity: 60% (added to which is the presence of a scientific collaborator (80%) and an assistant dedicated to the post)

Key features of the role:
As Head of the Department of Interior Architecture/Space Design you will be part of the Management Committee of HEAD—Genève and in this capacity will help to further the development and influence of the school as a whole. Your teaching responsibility at the Head of the Department will give you, in close collaboration with teaching staff, a wide margin of freedom to implement the design and development of teaching objectives (study plan), research projects, the coordination of teaching (courses, workshops, conferences, juries and examinations), as well as the Department’s cultural activities (exhibitions, publications, conferences). You will provide the necessary impulse to maintain the Department’s strategic position, particularly through the development of a Master in Interior Architecture project, which is planned to open in September 2016.
You will take charge of the following tasks:
—teaching in the field of Interior Architecture and Design of Spaces
—preparation and implementation of research projects
—coordination of relations and partnerships in the professional (business) and cultural (museums, associations) spheres of Interior Architecture at a national and international level
—design and implementation of cultural projects (conferences, exhibitions, publications, etc)
—development of partnerships with the Interior Architecture Departments of international schools
Profile:
—At least five years’ experience in the professional field of interior architecture or the design of spaces
—Degree (Master or equivalent preferred)
—Ability to lead projects designed as personal and collective adventures
—Managerial skills and excellent ability to work in a team, to encourage the sharing of knowledge and to lead collective projects in an evolving environment
—Language skills: French and English are essential.
