The Visiting Artists Program at PAFA is a student-run program that brings an outstanding roster of contemporary artists to campus for lectures, critiques, performances and workshops. Local, national and internationally exhibiting artists are invited each year to share insights about their work and meet one-on-one with PAFA students. The program exposes students to a range of artistic approaches and fosters discussion about contemporary art and ideas.

Martha Clippinger

Martha Clippinger’s work inhabits the fertile area between painting and sculpture. She calls attention to color, the physical qualities of her materials, and to the architectural spaces in which her work is installed.
Matthew Deleget
September 23, 11:45am–1pm
Matthew Deleget is an artist, curator, and arts worker. Matthew has exhibited his work nationally and internationally, including solo and group exhibitions in the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. His work was included in the 2014 Whitney Biennial.
Stephanie Pierce
October 2, 11:45am–1pm
Stephanie Pierce’s paintings evoke the meeting of recognizable imagery and abstraction. The accumulation of her painted marks indicates observed moments of space and light over time, suggesting forms that have just begun to come together and that may just as quickly dissipate.
Chie Fueki
October 9, 11:45am–1pm
Chie Fueki is a painter and printmaker who combines patterns and narrative to construct rich spaces that are dense with references to Japanese painting, 15th-century Italian painting, video games, and popular culture.
Rob Swainston
October 13, 11:45am–1pm
Rob Swainston combines traditional printmaking techniques with contemporary art practices such as large-scale installation, painting, sculpture, and video.
Mia Rosenthal
October 30, 11:45am–1pm
Mia Rosenthal’s work translates the imagery and organization of the virtual world we’ve become so familiar with via the internet into tangible works on paper through drawing.
Kurt Kauper
November 6, 11:45am–1pm
Kurt Kauper is a painter whose work has included images of familiar cultural icons—opera divas, Cary Grant, hockey players, and Barack and Michelle Obama—seen in a variety of unfamiliar ways.
Laurel Nakadate
November 13, 11:45am–1pm
Laurel Nakadate is known for video and photography that features individuals interacting in situations suggesting relationships of power and submission, intimacy and seduction, and the hunter and the hunted.
