Grants for Media Art 2013
Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art will award three production and residency Grants—10,000 EUR each—to promote international artistic efforts in the field of media art.

The grants from the Foundation of Lower Saxony at the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art were created in 2001, and are recognized internationally for their support of the production in a wide range of media art, from video art and net-based projects to audio or audiovisual installations.

The grant covers a period of six months—July–December 2013—and requires residence in Oldenburg for at least one month.

The project or artistic work should be completed within the six-month grant period. An international jury of experts will choose the grant winners.

Art Awards for Emerging Media Artists 2013
ERH will award two prizes—3,000 EUR each and an exhibition—for artistic works in the field of media art. With this award, the Edith-Russ-Haus wishes to honour new approaches to media art and support the award-winners with both prize money and an exhibition.

Awards will be given to existing works from the broad spectrum of media art, from net-based projects or video art to audio or audiovisual installations. International artists up to the age of 35 may participate. The prize will be given to a work completed after 2010. An international jury of experts will choose the prizewinners.

About Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art:

Established in the year 2000 in Oldenburg (Old), Germany, the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art is dedicated to current questions regarding media art in all its myriad forms, and is one of the most important institutions specialized in art and technology in Germany. On a regular basis, exhibitions by international artists are shown, and presentations and lecture series are organised for artists and media theoreticians. Major recent exhibitions have focused on significant contemporary issues such as Eco-Media, MyWar or Culture(s) of Copy, while solo exhibitions have introduced important media artists, some of whom were also stipend recipients at the Edith-Russ-Haus. In 2011, the exhibition Produced@ addressed the results of the first ten years of the Grant for Media Art of the Foundation of Lower Saxony at the Edith-Russ-Haus. In 2012 Claudia Giannetti was appointed as new Director.

Since 2001, the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art has conducted a regular guest-artist programme, which up to now has sponsored and implemented 32 artistic proposals. To this end, two one-room apartments and a residential studio are available in the guesthouse of the Edith-Russ-Haus, and grant recipients can call upon the institutional support of the institution in implementing their projects.
