Master of Fine Arts Program
The U-M School of Art & Design’s three-year MFA program is a leader in curriculum innovation and student support. Designed for artists/designers with an active creative practice who are also interested in engaging with fields of knowledge beyond the cultures of art and design, students conduct creative and cross-disciplinary work within a top research university along a cultural corridor that extends from Toronto to Chicago. They exhibit, curate, teach, perform, network, explore, present, research, and collaborate. They receive full tuition funding, including support for international travel. And they conduct their creative work in fully equipped studios, assisted by software-loaded laptops and peripherals to enhance their creative production, research, and communications.
Dual Degree Programs
Capitalizing on UM’s over 200 departments and colleges, the School of Art & Design also offers four dual degree programs:
- a four-year dual degree program with the Stephen M. Ross School of Business for a Master of Fine Arts and Master of Business Administration,
- a four-year dual degree program with the School of Information for a Master of Fine Arts and Master of Science in Information,
- a four-year dual degree program with the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning for a Master of Fine Arts and Master of Architecture,
- and the Rackham School of Graduate Studies’ interdisciplinary Design Science PhD.
The application deadline for 2013 admission is January 1, 2013.
