Duties
Teaching and guiding students across all years of study within the Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques Division, including theory of design;
supervising fourth year Art Theory and postgraduate students;
participating in the administration of the Department and in various departmental, Faculty and University initiatives;
fundraising for the Jewellery Design division;
attending to the administration of equipment and supplies in the Jewellery Design division.
Requirements
A Master’s degree in Visual Arts or an equivalent qualification;
active involvement and experience as a design practitioner in the field of Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques;
the ability to promote innovative, creative, and critical thinking;
the ability to provide academic leadership;
teaching and supervision experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the higher education sector;
sound administrative and management skills;
the ability to coordinate large, externally funded projects.
Recommended areas of expertise
Jewellery design; production and metal techniques, including platinum production and techniques; sculptural design; drawing; new media (CAD and Rhino); and related applied disciplines.
Commencement of duties: September 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter
