Residency period: June 5–August 28, 2012
Application Deadline: April 30, 2012
The Node Center for Curatorial Studies Residency is a program lasting twelve intensive weeks, designed for international, emerging curators who wish to expand their professional practice by developing projects in Berlin in a collaborative environment.
The Node Center for Curatorial Studies is a platform of formation, experimentation, and diffusion in the field of curatorship and in the contemporary artistic practices.
Node’s Curatorial Residency Program has an emphasis on developing innovative practice that expands the mechanism beyond the traditional process and format of the art exhibition, generating new discursive possibilities. To this end, the program is underpinned by a philosophy of exploring different fields of knowledge outside the traditional gallery context, adapting them to the curatorial praxis. This gives rise to the opportunity to experiment with challenging curatorial projects, while receiving professional feedback and technical support.
During the twelve weeks of the program, the resident curators enjoy a shared office as well as the necessary resources to deeply immerse them in Berlin’s dynamic art scene. Residents participate in weekly activities programmed by Node such as artist studio visits, tours to exhibition spaces, networking events and workshops with a variety of experts and practitioners. The residency culminates in the development of a printed publication and the curation of a final show.
Participants are also encouraged to take an active role in developing the program and are welcome to arrange seminars, workshops, guest lectures, etc.
