The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) announces the expanded list of exhibitions and programming for the third edition of deFINE ART, the university’s annual fine arts showcase, taking place February 21–25, 2012 at SCAD locations in Savannah, Atlanta, Hong Kong, and Lacoste, France. Organized by Laurie Ann Farrell, Executive Director of Exhibitions at SCAD, with support from Isolde Brielmaier, SCAD’s Chief Curator, deFINE ART 2012 will honor conceptual artist Fred Wilson for his work and influence on contemporary art. For deFINE Art 2012, Wilson will present, Life’s Link: An Installation by Fred Wilson Inspired by the Collections of Walter O. Evans, an artistic intervention into the Walter O. Evans Collection of African American Art at the SCAD Museum of Art, and will give keynote lectures at SCAD locations in Savannah and Atlanta.

As a signature feature of deFINE ART 2012, a series of major contemporary art exhibitions will be presented at SCAD’s global locations, with shows by deFINE ART 2012 honoree, Fred Wilson, Jane Alexander, Stephen Antonakos, Zander Blom, Mohamed Bourouissa, Kendall Buster, Dario Escobar, Sigalit Landau, Kalup Linzy, Rashaad Newsome, Ann-Marie Manker, Richard Mosse, Lisa M. Robinson, Hank Willis Thomas, Lauren Coggins-Tuttle, and two group exhibitions. DeFINE ART 2012’s programming will also feature the new 82,000 square foot SCAD Museum of Art, which reopened in Savannah in October 2011 following extensive restoration and expansion.

Additionally, deFINE ART 2012 will present a series of public talks by leading art world professionals and participating artists on their work, areas of expertise, and a variety of other topics. Participating speakers include deFINE ART honoree, Fred Wilson; Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Nancy Spector; curator David Elliott; curator Simon Njami; archivist Claire Hsu; Hong Kong-based artist Pak Sheung Chuen; artist and SCAD professor Anne-Marie Manker; exhibiting artists Mohamed Bourouissa, Dario Escobar, Sigalit Landau, Richard Mosse, Lisa M. Robinson, and Hank Willis Thomas; and gallerists Anthony Allen, Associate Director of Paula Cooper Gallery; Monique Meloche, Founder of Monique Meloche; and Cecile Panzieri, Executive Director of Sean Kelly Gallery.
