The Graduate Program in Fine Arts at California College of the Arts is currently accepting applications for its MFA in Fine Arts and MFA in Social Practice programs.

Distinct among art schools and universities throughout the world, the Graduate Program in Fine Arts at CCA offers a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment in which to pursue contemporary artistic practice. Through a combination of rigorous instruction and in-depth independent study, graduate students develop a deep critical awareness of theory, a vital individual practice, and a global context for understanding their work.

Students emphasizing studio practice can focus in painting/drawing, photography, ceramics, glass, sculpture, furniture, metals, printmaking, performance, textiles, video, and installation; or they may choose an interdisciplinary program of study that includes multiple artistic forms.

Students emphasizing social practice focus on questions of aesthetics, ethics, community collaboration, persona, media strategies, and activism. They explore the intersection of art and real-life social situations in practices that range from performance work to engaged documentary research to the creation of public (and counter-public) institutions.

CCA has a diverse faculty, and the college also brings world-renowned visiting artists to campus every semester to teach and lecture. Graduate students benefit from meaningful interactions with these prominent artists, writers, curators, and scholars. Elective offerings not only in fine arts but also in CCA’s programs in Architecture, Curatorial Practice, Design, MBA in Design Strategy, Visual and Critical Studies, and Writing offer opportunities to expand their interests.

Application requirements are online at cca.edu/finearts.

Scholarships are available to those who qualify.
