The residency provides artists and scholars of any profession with a unique opportunity to stay and work in the beautiful and peaceful atmosphere of Laugarvatn.
Founded in 2009.
Accommodation is provided in two different places:
1: Apartments in a new apartment building in the village of Laugarvatn.
2. Rooms in the Eyvindartunga farm, very near to the village of Laugarvatn.
Common work place is provided at the farm where guests have the opportunity to meet other guests, exchange ideas and possibly cooperate.
Children are welcome at Gullkistan.
The Laugarvatn settlement is a small school village and also has a long tradition as a popular summer resort for people who want to relax and renew their creative energy. New spa with hot spring water and outdoor swimming pool are there as well as restaurants hiking and other leasure activities.
Laugarvatn is situated inland in south Iceland, 70 km from Reykjavik, on the popular Golden circle between Thingvellir national park and Geysir and Gullfoss. From Laugarvatn there is a beautiful view to the east where you can see Mt Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull.
Laugarvatn has what you need to make your stay comfortable and creative.
