The MFA program is characterized by one-on-one mentoring with tenured and tenure-track faculty, small classes, and an interdisciplinary atmosphere. Students who have graduated from the program have exhibited nationally and internationally, have been selected for public art commissions, and have been recruited for full-time teaching positions in colleges, universities and art schools around the country.
The Master of Arts (M.A.) program in Art History is a two-year program intended to give the student a broad general knowledge of Art History. A community resource room with semi private spaces is provided for each graduate student. A student who has achieved a distinguished record in this M.A. program will be well prepared for acceptance into a doctoral program in Art History. This program is intended as well to give those who do not intend to pursue a doctoral degree the background for work in museums and galleries, for teaching, for work in art and slide libraries, and for critically and historically informed writing in the field of Art History. The program offers studies leading to the M.A. degree in the following areas: Medieval art; Early Modern & Renaissance art; Baroque art; Art of the Americas; Asian art, Modern art; Contemporary art and architecture; critical theory and museology.
