The MA in Social DesignA “remix of art and design,” the MFA in Illustration Practice program challenges artists to purposefully blur the boundaries between art and design, to blend media, and to use research and collaboration in the creation of illustrations that emotionally and intellectually engage communities. The program includes a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship development, and students work intensely with faculty mentors as they increase their expertise in areas critical to both illustration and client management.
The MFA in Graphic Design is an advanced lab for interdisciplinary research and exploration. Students in the program are encouraged to view themselves as “practical visionaries” and “utopian entrepreneurs” who actively initiate projects. Whether their work takes the form of publications, Web sites, products, or exhibitions, students focus on advancing a personal vision and public message.
Through online coursework and brief residencies, students in the Master of Professional Studies in the Business of Art and Design program, one of the most innovative business programs in the country, gain expertise in starting, growing, and sustaining an arts-related business or excelling in a company by combining creative expertise with business knowledge .
