Residency period: mid-August 2010 through mid-May 2011.
Eligibility:
Spring 2010 graduating MFA painter/printmakers and sculptors are invited to apply for the fellowship year beginning August 2010.
VCU students and graduates are NOT eligible to apply.
Fellows receive:
• 24-hour access to a private 300+ square foot studio.
• A furnished double-occupancy apartment. (2-bedroom apartment to be shared with a fellow from another discipline).
• 15,000 USD stipend.
• Part-time teaching experience at VCU.
• A solo exhibition in Richmond.
Fellowship recipient responsibilities:
• Teach 2 classes per semester in the VCU Department of Painting & Printmaking or the VCU Department of Sculpture + Extended Media (2½ days per week for 2 semesters)
• Present a public lecture about your work
• Solo exhibition
Applications must include:
• Digital documentation of recent work (20 images in PowerPoint on CD)
• Slide script with details about documentation
• 2 letters of reference
• One-page artist’s statement
• Resume including phone number, email, mailing address (and website if available)
• An official current graduate school transcript (a final transcript denoting completion of the MFA is required before residency can be awarded)
