Build functional yet inventive forms using porcelain slabs. Participants explore a breadth of possibilities using soft and stiff slab techniques to create forms ranging from organic and gestured to clean and architectural. Class covers the development of ideas as well as alternate ways of making spouts, lids and handles. Demonstration of ways to create and use paper patterns included.

Delve into a variety of jewelry-making techniques. Discover the properties of non-conventional materials, innovative surface treatments and cold connections for jewelry. Experiment with plastics, glass, polymer clay, wood, shell, bone and eggshell. Explore the applicability of fine arts media such as paint, hard wax, metal leaf, colored pencil and more. Learn joining techniques such as riveting, pegging, bolting, tabbing and pronging. Problem solving sessions focus on creative solutions to the technical challenges of mixed media fabrication.
