The ma visual arts practices is a unique visual arts postgraduate initiative, based in Dublin. It invites students to pursue one of three pathways – the making of visual art, curation or art criticism – within the context of a shared broad interdisciplinary programme that interrogates all aspects of international contemporary art.
The programme is uniquely designed to allow the integration of full and part time students [12 months full time / 24 months part-time]
While there is a central emphasis on student-led practical production, there is also an emphasis on formal lectures, seminars, informal group dialogue and debate, independent research, and external placements.
The programme comprises of several lectures series – international contemporary visual arts, visual culture studies, institutions and practices – a shared seminar programme, an active visiting lecturer programme and a rolling programme of exhibitions.
Hosted in Temple Bar Gallery & Studios in the heart of Dublin, this programme invites applicants who wish to explore the possibilities of contemporary visual arts in a practical-experiential way, within a rigorously theoretically informed context.
The deadline for applications is 30th September 2005 and the next intake of students will commence in January 2006.
