Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina is pleased to announce its third annual session of Summer School as School. The 2017 program will include seminars, workshops, lectures, performances, and exhibitions by artists, writers, and scholars, including Alfred Barr, Boris Buden, Yane Calovski, Beatriz Colomina, Keti Chukhrov, Adrian Deva, Patricia Falguières, Rike Frank, Felix Gmelin, Petrit Halilaj, Sami Khatib, Molly Kleiman (Triple Canopy), Vjollca Krasniqi, Christian Rattemeyer, Bernhard Rudiger, Jovana Stokić, Nebojsa Milikić, Miran Mohar, Marina Otero, Renaud Proch, Besa Shahini, Branimir Stojanović, among others.

 

The registration deadline is April 30, 2017.
The results will be announced no later than May 5, 2017.
The program is held July 10 through 24, 2017.

With Summer School as School, Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina and partner institutions have created a unique collaborative international educational platform based in Prishtina, developing an interdisciplinary curriculum and engaging practitioners to share knowledge and expertise with international students and the public.

Originally inspired by the case of Kosovo, where the education system was structured in the mid-1970s, Summer School as School is designed to bring together and disseminate critical knowledge and address relevant challenges of today, implementing new models and possibilities in art education and artistic collaboration.

Summer School as School 2017 course leaders, lecturers, and collaborators have compiled a challenging and inspiring program, organized July 10 through 24, 2017.

The program for 2017 is structured as a hub with nine courses, combining theory-based and production classes, public lectures and presentations, guided tours, exhibitions, conferences and performances, producing a unique experience for participants and the public. 

Theory-based courses beginning July 10:
Course 3: Curating and Global Feminisms, course by Jovana Stokić 
Course 4: Exhibiting: (En)Countering Temporalities by Rike Frank 
Course 7: Only the Code Remains the Same: Publication as Material, Window, Forum, Copy, Container for Time by Molly Kleiman (Triple Canopy)

Production-based courses, including theory-based sessions, beginning July 10:
Course 5: The Rearview Mirror by Felix Gmelin 
Course 6: Painting (Re)Framed by Adrian Deva

Theory-based courses beginning July 17:
Course 1: In the Museum of History by Boris Buden 
Course 2: Performativity and its Institutional Ethics by Keti Chukhrov 
Course 8: Architecture Exhibitions and the Politics of the Temporal by Marina Otero
Course 9: Memory and Typography by Toledo i Dertschei.

Up to ten applicants will be selected to take part in each course. Language of instruction is English.

Summer School as School is a project by Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina initiated in collaboration with IRWIN. Partner institutions for Summer School as School 2017 are Independent Curators International (ICI), New York, Pres To Exit Project Space, Skopje, Cultural Center REX, Belgrade, RIT Kosovo and Education Plenum, Prishtina.

Summer School as School 2017 is organized in cooperation with Allianz Cultural Foundation, supported by ERSTE Foundation, Trust for Mutual Understanding (TMU. Complete list of donors and cooperation partners will be announced.
