The EGS, a University with campuses in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, and Valletta, Malta, has two divisions: Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought (PACT) and Arts, Health and Society (AHS). Established in the Swiss Alps in 1994, the EGS has become one of the most relevant academic and artistic communities in Europe for philosophical, artistic and socio-political inquiry. Together with its faculty, EGS students take part in the active evolution of what a University can be, while attaining an accredited Masters and/or Doctoral degree.

There are two streams in the PACT Division: Philosophy, Art, and Social Thought (PAS) and Literary, Musical and Visual Thought (LMVT). Masters and Doctoral students engage with brilliant and renowned faculty in their field (one or two sessions per year) to complete their first and second year coursework. For the rest of the year, students prepare for their sessions and work on their MA Thesis or PhD Dissertation with the guidance of their Advisor or Supervisor. The MA Degree takes two to three years, and the PhD degree four to five years.

The deadlines to apply are: May 1 (for the June session), June 1 (for the August session) and August 1 (for the October session). The EGS offers financial support to a limited number of students. Early application is encouraged. To learn more about the application process, see here. For further information, please contact the Office of Admissions (, or visit the EGS website.
