“Perception. Performance. Party.” is a celebration of the second season of programming from A/D/O’s Design Academy, titled Common Sense. The season kicks off with a design festival on Saturday, May 13, a day of design talks, installations and workshops. The season is also marked by an exhibition by PlayLab, Inc. Further programming will take place over the duration of the summer, to be announced at a-d-o.com.
This event will be a stimulation of the senses, with musical and artistic performances, virtual reality and interactive installations, sculptural candy and animated projections.
About Common Sense
Common Sense from the Design Academy at A/D/O questions design’s role in accommodating the fundamentals of our sensory system. To what extent can design alter our perceptions and to what degree can our senses be augmented or recalibrated? At a time when perceptions of the world are increasingly polarized, when the truth is questionable and consensus seems impossible to achieve, we consider if we’ve lost touch with common sense and our shared ability to perceive something without debate.
Cutting through the sensory overload of attention-grabbing stimuli, A/D/O is staging a series of talks, workshops, installations and interventions that examine the power of design to harness physiology, culture and technology to heighten our understanding of a shared world.
About A/D/O
A/D/O is a creative space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn dedicated to exploring new boundaries in design. At its heart is the Design Academy, which offers a range of programming to professional designers, intended to provoke and invigorate their creative practice. Find out more at a-d-o.com.
