The ninth edition of Abu Dhabi Art is now open for gallery applications.
Returning from November 8 to 11, 2017, Abu Dhabi Art will offer a diverse programme of exhibitions, commissions, performances, and events that brings together the world’s leading galleries, artists, cultural thinkers, collectors and visitors from across the globe.
Abu Dhabi Art is held in the Saadiyat Cultural District of Abu Dhabi, home to Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
Expanding beyond the concept of a traditional art fair, Abu Dhabi Art is the culmination of a year-round programme with an emphasis on art education and public outreach. Abu Dhabi Art provides an important sales platform for participating galleries whilst also offering galleries an opportunity to showcase ambitious works and site specific installations by their artists to an audience of over 20,000 visitors annually.
Applications are now open for modern and contemporary art and design galleries to participate in Abu Dhabi Art 2017. Galleries can apply under one of the fair’s three sections: Modern & Contemporary, Bidaya and Solo Projects.
The Modern & Contemporary section features established art galleries who have been open for more than seven years, presenting exceptional artworks. Bidaya, which means “beginning” in Arabic, welcomes younger galleries that have been running for less than seven years, showcasing some of the most exciting emergent artists worldwide. Solo Projects invites applications from all galleries wishing to highlight a single artist’s works and can be applied for independently or alongside a main application in another category.
All participating galleries are invited to apply for the Beyond section of Abu Dhabi Art at a later stage. Beyond provides a public art platform for large-scale sculptures and installations which engage with public spaces. Selected works are exhibited throughout the city for a period of six months.
