Cardi gallery, modern and contemporary art gallery, is glad to present from Tuesday, April 28 through Tuesday, September 15, at the same time of Expo Milan 2015, a retrospective show of the great Italian artist Giuseppe Uncini (Fabriano 1929–Trevi 2008) realized in collaboration with Archivio Giuseppe Uncini.

The show is curated by Annamaria Maggi and its aim is to propose to the audience a synthetic but thorough excursus of the work of the artist that can give an overview of the production of Uncini: from the early Cementarmati of the end of the ’50s, to the last Artifici of 2007–08, going through the Ferrocementi, the Mattoni, the Ombre, the Dimore, the Muri d’ombra, the Spazi di ferro and the Architetture

In Giuseppe Uncini’s artistic practice it is essential and decisive the idea of building. The elements that Uncini uses for his works are mostly concrete and iron, materials that allows him to elaborate objects following the principles of architectonic construction so that in his works shape, design, project and space blends skilfully together as painting, sculpture and architecture. The artist observes carefully the features of the process of building, especially in the edifices made by concrete, and at the same time he realizes his works leaving visible the executive moulds of concrete, from the reinforcing bars made of iron to the iron net used to build, to the mark of the wood on the surface of the concrete pouring.

It’s interesting to note how correct was Emilio Villa’s critique intuition that saw in Giuseppe Uncini a precursor of minimalistic and Arte Povera experiences.

After the recent and important exhibitions in Italians and foreign museums, like the last show at Centro Italiano Arte Contemporanea in Foligno in 2011, curated by Bruno Corà and Italo Tomassoni, and the important anthological shows at ZKM in Karlsruhe (2008), at MART in Rovereto (2008–09) and at Neue Galerie am Landesmuseum Johanneum in Graz (2009), the work by Uncini will be on show in Milan at Cardi gallery.
