Bonhams will hold an evening sale of Modern & Contemporary Art from Asia on March 15 (Sunday) during the Art Basel Hong Kong week. Consisting of 30 high-value lots, the sale will take place in the new Bonhams Hong Kong Gallery located at Suite 2001 in One Pacific Place in Admiralty and will preview daily from March 12 (Thursday).
Magnus Renfrew, Director of Fine Arts and Deputy Chairman, Asia for Bonhams said: “With the eyes of the international art world on Hong Kong during that week, there is no better time in Asia to access collectors, curators, and museum directors from across Asia and around the world. We are already experiencing strong interest from consignors who recognize the unique opportunity that this new platform brings.”
Bonhams will hold a day sale of Modern and Contemporary Art from Asia in early April 2015. Consignments for both sales are currently being invited.
Renfrew rejoined Bonhams in September this year following his role as Director Asia and member of the Executive Committee of Art Basel where he was responsible for its Hong Kong edition and for the participation of galleries, collectors and the wider art community from Asia in Art Basel shows worldwide. Renfrew was founding Fair Director of ART HK – Hong Kong International Art Fair and oversaw its development from its inception in 2008 through its acquisition by MCH Group (the parent company of Art Basel) in 2011 and its successful transition through its first two editions as Art Basel in Hong Kong in 2013 and 2014.
