In 2012, VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary relaunched with 122 participating galleries and institutions from 26 countries. It built upon Vienna’s unique position as a hub between different cultures, drawing an interesting mix of galleries from Austria, Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Russia, and beyond.
An entertaining and insightful side program also showcased art from focus countries like Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the Ukraine, while diverse tours, panel discussions, and events deepened the visitors’ knowledge. This was rounded off with exciting artistic and musical performances at the fair and lots of events happening all over the city, many in cooperation with prominent cultural institutions. With its unique focus, VIENNAFAIR has established itself as a new center in the international art market and a lively platform for the exchange of artistic ideas.
And our plans for this year are even bigger. VIENNAFAIR aims to attract even more exciting galleries from its core regions while expanding its focus to the budding scenes even further to the East. Our VIP program will offer art lovers, international art professionals and collectors alike access to a variety of inspiring activities: There will be special events at all kinds of great institutions, private collections, and art projects as well exclusive parties and private happenings at the most beautiful locations in town. Cooperations with partners in the city of Vienna and its thriving art scene will be intensified, guaranteeing a wide range of interesting events in and around the fair.
Galleries and institutions can still apply to participate in VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary 2013 until April 15. Please click here for further information.
