Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery is pleased to announce SONE Yutaka: Perfect Moment.
Yutaka Sone (1965, Shizuoka) lives in Los Angeles and works in Los Angeles, Chong-wu and Guadalajara. His recent works have strong ties with the locations in which they are made. This exhibition re-contextualizes early video works, such as Night Bus (1995) and Birthday Party (1997), and also presents new marble sculptural works made at his factory in China and rattan works made at his factory in Mexico. The exhibits show interpenetrative realities as well as geographical specificity through their incorporation of local materials, techniques and subjects. Lights, winds, trees, islands, stones, paints, soils and songs coexist in the exhibition space in a dynamic that uniquely combines mediums and practices.
