Application deadline: June 1, 2018
Art Basel is delighted to invite you to apply for participation in the 2019 edition of the Art Basel show in Hong Kong. Private View will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, March 27–28, 2019, and the show will open to the public from Friday to Sunday, March 29–31, 2019.
Art Basel is currently accepting digital applications to three sectors: Galleries, Insights and Discoveries. Please visit our website to submit your application online by Friday, June 1, 2018. Exhibitors for each sector will be selected by Art Basel’s Selection Committee for Hong Kong. You may apply to the following sectors:
Galleries is the main exhibition sector of Art Basel, where leading galleries for Modern and contemporary art from Asia and around the world display 20th and 21st century artworks. To qualify, galleries must have been in operation for a minimum of three years, and apply with their overall program and an outline of the concept for their booth at the show.
Insights presents precisely-curated projects focused on artists from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region (from Turkey to New Zealand, including the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent). The project may be either a solo or a thematic presentation of up to two artists from Asia or the Asia-Pacific region and must maintain a strong curatorial concept that allows insight into an individual artist’s career, a particular theme, or a period in art history from 1900 through to the present day. Galleries from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region as well as non-Asian galleries with an exclusively Asian program are eligible to apply.
Discoveries provides galleries with a platform to present one emerging artist, with a project composed of new works. There is no age limit for the artist. The artist must be represented by the gallery, and all of the artworks exhibited must relate to the project proposal. Please note that the Selection Committee will give preference to projects specifically created for the Art Basel show in Hong Kong, and by artists who are emerging in the international art world. Nonetheless, artists who have been spotlighted at other international art fairs (including other editions of Art Basel) will also be considered. Ideally, they should not have had major solo presentations with any leading museum or institution. The proposed exhibition must be an entirely new body of work, significantly different from what has been exhibited before in such international contexts.
Further information about the show and our online application procedure can be found on the Art Basel website.
We look forward to receiving your application. Please ensure you complete the application online by Friday, June 1, 2018.
