General / research / essay residency
As a print media labo Frans Masereel Centre wants to stimulate new graphic practices in contemporary arts. The focus in the labo lies on development, creation and production. The Centre provides both a working space and residencies to artists, designers and critics. You can work with intaglio, relief printing, screenprint, lithography, digital techniques and more… or you can investigate the relationship of graphic techniques with other visual arts.
FMC also offers a digital studio with scanners, printers, a large-scale printer, a digital stencil machine, a laser cutter and a riso machine. These workshops are led by experts in printing techniques and typography. Staff members will be present to assist and help you with any technical questions.
We offer a variety of residencies, which vary in production, cost and duration. During the general residency (6 weeks) you can realize a print project that matches your personal oeuvre. If you aim to research the graphic medium, you can apply for the research residency (6 weeks). Critics, artists or theoreticians can write a critical text on a print related topic during the essay residency (4 to 6 weeks).
Application forms will be published on online.
