In the past three years, from Sculpture Forest, The Sustainability between Circle and Square, to Transformation, we have set up the award themes rich in humanistic feeling and social concern.
This year, in view of the global turbulent atmosphere in recent years, we have made “Harmony” the theme of the biennial award this year.
It is hoped that through this award, the works can not only express the artists’ personal style but also strike the conversations of different media, different nationalities, areas, ethnic groups, and even different generations through the language of sculpture and further create the harmony in human civilization.
The 4th Lih Pao International Sculpture Biennial Awards will be open for submission from April 26 to December 31, 2018. The creative materials should be aimed for long-term exhibition.
The preliminary shortlist will be available in March 2019. It is expected to announce the winners list in October 2019 and hold the grand award giving ceremony.
This year we root in Asia and harbor in the world, inviting the sculptors, commentators, and artists from Japan, China, and Taiwan to serve as the judges, including father of kinetic sculpture of Japan, Takamichi Ito, sculpture authorities of Japan, Izumi Hatano and Takeda Mitsuyuki, sculpture authorities of China, Sui Jian-Guo, Sun Zhen-Hua, and Jiao Xing-Tao, sculpture masters of Taiwan, Han Xu-Dong and Li Zhi-Wen, and professor of Department of History, National Cheng Kung University, and famous commentator, Xiao Qiong-Rui.
