Satellite 2: Anteloper: Jaimie Branch and Jason Nazary
Anteloper is the electric brain child of the jazz trumpeter Jaimie Branch and the drummer Jason Nazary. Branch and Nazary have been playing together since they met at the New England Conservatory of Music in 2002. In this duo the musicians include synthesizers, delving into deep rhythmic passages, telepathic improvisations, and effortless melodic negotiations. Through this union of sounds, Anteloper transcend into the spectral spaceship ether and push forward, swinging their horns all the while. Their debut album Kudu was released this year on International Anthem Recording Company. They have performed at We Jazz (Helsinki), Copenhagen Jazz Festival (Copenhagen), and Pioneer Works (New York).
The evening will be followed with music by Devoye, a New York-based DJ and resident at Half Moon radio.
Satellite, a monthly experimental music series at Bar Laika, is organized by Sanna Almajedi, a Brooklyn-based curator and DJ. 5 USD cover charge at the door.
