For over 50 years, the Bonner Kunstverein has actively engaged in promoting innovative directions in contemporary art, both nationally and internationally. As a platform that engages in art discourses, it encourages current artistic positions and opens the possibilities for experimental means of expression. In addition to the core exhibitions, the Kunstverein hosts a dynamic program including public tours, artists’ talks, lectures and presentations.
The board is currently seeking a new Director who has maintained close connections to the contemporary art world and has a proven expertise in the organization of pioneering exhibitions. An ideal candidate would offer independent leadership to continue a strong tradition of innovative artistic programs that gain considerable recognition nationally and internationally.
The director’s primary focus will be on the curatorial concepts and realization of exhibitions, promotion of emerging artists, communication of the exhibition programs, members services and the production of publications. A dedicated and effective team is the basis for the success of ambitious programs and the administrative responsibility of the future director. Therefore, interested candidates should have experience in the management of the institution’s staff, in addition to organizational management, communication skills, demonstrated experience in fundraising, budget planning and cultural/political dialogues. Excellent German proficiency in written and spoken fluency is required.
