Application deadline: June 1, 2019, 11pm
Briefly put, the LungA School is an independent, artist-led institution and situation where we experiment with artistic practice as a way of doing, thinking and being in order to cultivate, disturb, distort and transform our notions of aesthetics, learning, perception and good judgement.
The LungA School is looking for one program director for a part-time position, who will be part of a team of four artists planning, facilitating and hosting our “84” program, while also being apart of the general school management.
We are looking for a person who is good at facilitating a space, as well as balanced and focused in unpredictable, challenging situations.
This role includes:
–Developing the educational strategy of the school
–Planning, hosting and facilitating the “84” program
–Finding and booking artists for workshops
–Co-managing the application process of the “84” program
–Co-hosting and managing the LungA School Residency
Framework
This role will be shared between four people who will take overall discussions and decisions together. All members of this group will have approx. 3 months of intensive hosting on site in Seyðisfjörður a year. The rest of the research, development and planning can take place remotely and be spread out during the year. Here is also an opportunity to let the content of the school collide with other projects, and to intertwine your general practice with your work in the school. Structurally this means we are offering a part time position where, besides salary, the school will take care of housing and travel for school related activities. There will also be an opportunity to spend more time in Seyðisfjörður and use the studios and equipment for your own practice.
We do not really work with generic requirements and abilities. It’s right if it’s right—and if you think this might be you, please send us an application where you write about yourself, your practice and your interest and thoughts on working with us.
Deadline for applications is June 1, 2019. We are looking forward to receiving your words and thoughts.
