Master of Science in Architecture
The Master of Science in Architecture, formerly known as the Master of Architecture II program, is a three-semester, post-professional degree program at The Cooper Union in New York City. Celebrating its tenth year, the unique design studio and seminar based curriculum, culminating in a design-research thesis project, approaches architectural discourse critically—questioning the very boundaries of architecture itself.
The program is open to applicants with a first professional degree in architecture (Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture I) from a program accredited by NAAB or equivalent accrediting agency in another country.
Applicants are required to complete a minimum of one year of work experience after obtaining their first professional degree before applying to the program.
While the Master of Science in Architecture is studio based, concentrations in one or a combination of three areas are offered: theory, history and criticism of architecture, and urban studies and technologies. Prospective students will declare their area(s) of concentration during the application process.
Applications for Fall 2020 are due January 6, 2020.
