Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow is pleased to announce its new travel grant program for international curators, allowing ten curators to visit the 2nd Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art, A Beautiful Night for All the People, which opens on June 13.
Each of the ten travel grants will cover travel expenses and a four-day stay in Moscow, from June 11 to 15, 2020. The program includes meetings with the artists featured in the triennial, visits to Garage Studios at VDNKh, and other events. Applications for the travel grant are open to curators of any age and citizenship, provided they live and work outside of Russia and have at least three years’ curatorial experience in the field of contemporary art.
The second iteration of the Garage Triennial will be a large-scale analysis of the system of relationships operating in the Russian art scene today. The goal of this museum-wide survey is to demonstrate the diversity and power of personal connections in Russia’s art world. With that in mind, curators Anastasia Mityushina and Valentin Diaconov delegated the right to select the next triennial’s artists to participants of the inaugural event, back in 2017.
Over 80 artists from across the Russian Federation will contribute to the 2nd Garage Triennial, along with Russian-born practitioners who have lived and exhibited abroad in the past ten years. The majority of artworks will be specially created for the show.
The 2nd Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art represents the museum’s largest effort yet to help develop Russian contemporary art. Other Garage projects with the same goal include the museum’s grant programs, and Garage Studios and Artist Residencies.
The travel grant application deadline is March 5, 2020. Apply now via the link below.
