International festival dedicated to the art of glass in Venice, Italy
Applications are open until March 13, 2020 for the fourth edition of The Venice Glass Week, the international festival dedicated to the art of glass, taking place from September 5 to 13, 2020 around Venice, Murano and Mestre. To apply, applicants should visit the website and fill in an online application form with details of their proposed project or event. The festival’s Organising Committee welcomes applications from any Italian or international organisation or individual wishing to propose an event or project relating to artistic glass: not only exhibitions and installations, but also conferences, performances, workshops, themed dinners, guided tours, activities for children and more. There is no application fee and participation is free. All applications will be evaluated and selected by a Curatorial Committee, consisting of experts in the glass sector at an international level.
Young artists and designers aged between 18 to 35 are invited to propose a glass installation or project to be exhibited in the new HUB – Piazza San Marco, that will be situated in the Gallery of the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa. All of them will have the chance of winning the new Autonoma Residency Prize, promoted by LagunaB through the Autonoma project funded by the Associazione Culturale per la Salvaguardia delle Tecniche Vetrarie Muranesi E.T.S, in association with Pilchuck Glass School. The prize will enable the winner to participate in a two-month residency at the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, USA in 2021.
The Bonhams Prize for The Venice Glass Week will instead be awarded to the best project of the fourth edition: all participants will automatically be considered for the prize, which is offered by the Modern Decorative Art and Design Department (New York) of Bonhams, one of the main sponsors of the festival. The winner will receive a cash prize of EUR 1,000 during an official Prize-giving Ceremony on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Palazzo Franchetti. The Jury may also decide to give a special mention to a maximum of two other original projects, at their discretion.
