RijksakademieOPEN 2013
During RijksakademieOPEN, all resident artists present new work in their studios in the former cavalry barracks in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Every year a selection of artists from all continents come to Amsterdam to pursue a residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten. Here they have the opportunity to engage in debate, concentrate on research and experiment, and devote themselves to producing new work. In the past artists like Mondriaan and Karel Appel worked at the Rijksakademie, and more recent Ryan Gander, Yael Bartana and Guido van der Werve.
Besides the studio presentations, a public program will be offered. In tours, talks and a ‘Footnotes’ film program, contemporary trends and innovations in the arts are being presented and you will have a chance to meet artists who will encounter later on in prominent collections, exhibitions and biennials worldwide.
