The AA Summer School is a full-time, three-week course comprised of a unique and intensive programme of design studios, field trips, seminars, lectures and parties that take over the Architectural Association (AA). Based on the unit system, it offers participants the opportunity to experience a diverse selection of different learning environments, teaching agendas and design techniques. Through bringing together a diverse spectrum of individuals, the course creates an immersive environment that generates an international network of creative friendships.
Tutors, lecturers and critics include past and present AA unit tutors, as well as professionals from a diverse range of disciplines such as fashion, art, graphic design, industrial design, urbanism and film. The course is open to current and prospective architecture students from around the world, and offers an approach to design for motivated individuals interested in exploring architecture as an extended field of research. A number of fully-funded scholarships are available. Prospective participants who wish to apply for a scholarship must register their interest by sending through a 10-page portfolio PDF format (max. 5MB), a statement of intent and mention specific reasons related to their financial need.
