2012 saw the advent of a unique professional development programme, initiated by de Appel arts centre and The Fair Gallery (gb agency, Paris; Hollybush Gardens, London; Jan Mot, Brussels; Raster, Warsaw): the Gallerist Programme.

Over the past nine months nine young professionals participated in a trajectory consisting of six workshop weeks, taking place at different places worldwide such as London, New York, Brussels, Berlin, Warsaw and Hong Kong, related to a number of prestigious art events such as Frieze London, the Armory Show and the Independent, Berlin Gallery Weekend and Art Basel Hong Kong. Apart from engaging in numerous informal encounters with collectors, artists and gallerists; practical workshops and lessons about the art market, the participants have been preparing a final project to put their experiences into practice, which will be presented at Liste Art Fair Basel 2013.

The Gallerist Programme’s 2012–2013 participants are Sarah Calodney (b. 1986, United States), Fang Fang (b. 1977, China), Orsolya Hegedüs

(b.1974, Hungary), Ada Kai-Ting Yang (b. 1982, Taiwan), Nuria Kehayoglu (b. 1978, Argentina), Anna Laarits (b. 1984, Estonia), Camilla Mozzato (b. 1982, Italy), Nathaniel Pitt (b. 1975, United Kingdom) and Maria Quiroga (b. 1984, Colombia). Working in dialogue with one another, over the course of the fair week the participants of the Gallerist Programme 2012–2013 present a dynamic stand with changing solo projects by artists that are all presenting at Liste for the first time.

The changing booth will bring a performance project with Rory Pilgrim (b. 1988, GB) delving into the different understandings of terms like hope and faith and in collaboration with local guests Nancy Kreiger (Quaker, Jungian psychoanalyst) and Amira Hafner Al-Jabaji (journalist, columnist). Jeremy Hutchison’s (b. 1978, GB) Demand & Supply questions the expected roles of gallerist, artist and collector in the process of art production. A more poetic page is turned with the projects by Katalin Hausel (b. 1971, HU) and Nicolas Feldmeyer (b. 1980, CH) both in their own way investigating notions of space. Large sculptural projects by Matti Isan Blind (b. 1975, DE) and Wang Yifan (b. 1978, CN) transform the space during the last days of the fair.

Dates:
10–11 June
