From June 8 until July 24, 2011 based in Berlin will show examples of the city’s dynamic art production, presenting works by more than 80 “emerging artists.” Many of the participating artists from over 26 nations, all living and working in Berlin, have created new works especially for the exhibition.

The central exhibition venue, Atelierhaus Monbijoupark on Oranienburger Strasse comprises exhibition space on a 13-metre high platform, hovering over the building and a bunker. Work will also be shown at KW Institute of Contemporary Art in the large hall and on all four floors. based in Berlin will also move into the entire 800 sqm eastern wing of the Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof. The Neue Berliner Kunstverein n.b.k. is presenting the exhibition on its ground floor and in its first floor showroom, and the Berlinische Galerie will contribute 160 sqm of exhibition space to based in Berlin for a special solo presentation. The exhibition is curated by Angelique Campens, Fredi Fischli, Magdalena Magiera, Jakob Schillinger and Scott Cameron Weaver.

The making of the exhibition was accompanied by three advisors: Klaus Biesenbach (New York), Christine Macel (Paris) and Hans Ulrich Obrist (London).
