International Architecture and Design Festival
Application deadline: March 11, 2021
Concéntrico, the Logroño (Spain) International Architecture and Design Festival, seeks to reflect on the urban environment and the city through different formats of architectural and design projects. Next year’s edition, Concéntrico 07, will take place from September 2–5, 2021.
The festival is opening three competitions for participation in three of the locations. The aim of these competitions is to create a Pavilion in the Plaza de Escuelas Trevijano and two interventions, one in the River Ebro walk and the other in Viña Lanciano by Bodegas LAN. The winning projects will be part of the set of installations that will be carried out in different locations in the city.
The competitions, which have a new digital delivery format and 6,000 EUR in prizes, are open to international participation:
Pavilion in the Plaza de Escuelas Trevijano, a starting point and home base for all of the festival’s tours and activities. A meeting that innovatively shows how urban spaces have become a fundamental point of reference during the current pandemic.
Two installations in locations selected for their high landscape and ecological value, which seek to strengthen the relationship with the natural area of the river Ebro, the heritage and history of the context:
Installation at Viña Lanciano – Bodegas LAN, is located around a meander of the river Ebro next to the Mantible bridge, and it is a unique location not just for growing vines but also due to the coexistence of many birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and varieties of flora on the river bank, since the river almost completely surrounds it.
Installation at Paseo del Ebro, in the urban stretch of the river, the area offers a privileged view of the historic city centre and the Ebro, the bridges, the riverside woodland and the floodable zone.
Concentrico will be responsible for the production and construction of the winning proposals in coordination with the selected teams, and will be part of the set of installations that will be built in different locations of the city. Each installation, made with Garnica plywood panels, is created by teams of architects and/or designers who propose, experiment and explore new fields of environmental design. In this way, a dialogue is established between heritage and contemporary architecture that seeks to activate citizens’ reflection on spaces.
The Festival invites you to explore the city through installations, exhibitions, discussions, activities and performances, creating a connection between places, squares, streets, terraces and hidden spaces that usually go unnoticed. Find out about all the projects that have transformed the city since 2015 and participate in the new open calls for 2021. The deadline for submission of proposals is March 11, 2021 at 2pm (GMT+1).
