The Yale School of Art is pleased to announce the Painting/Printmaking MFA thesis exhibition In Praise of Shadows, for which a comprehensive online exhibition launched this week at painting.yaleschoolofart.org/2021.

The two-part exhibition features work by 2021 MFA degree candidates in Painting/Printmaking: Vamba Bility, Brianna Rose Brooks, David Craig, Danielle De Jesus, Nathaniel Donnett, Leyla Faye, Kate Meissner, Mich Miller, Gabriel Mills, Dala Nasser, Alina Perez, Tamen Pérez, Sara Rahmanian, Jonathan Rajewski, Emma Safir, Chibuike Uzoma, and Curtis Welteroth.

In Praise of Shadows is curated by guest lecturer Ebony L. Haynes with exhibition identity by Jun Jung, Nick Massarelli, and Mianwei Wang, Graphic Design MFAs ‘21. The 2020-2021 thesis course in Painting/Printmaking was co-taught by faculty member Sophy Naess and guest lecturer Ebony L. Haynes.

The Yale School of Art’s annual MFA thesis exhibitions are the culmination of two years of intensive artistic development, showcasing the results of a studio-based education that stresses the significance of critical practice. In keeping with the university’s COVID safety guidelines, the physical installation of the 2021 MFA thesis shows in Painting/Printmaking were on view February 1–22, 2021 to current members of the School of Art community in the school’s Green Hall Gallery.
