The second edition of Contemporary Istanbul, Turkey’s and the region’s largest and most prestigious contemporary art fair, will be held next week between November 28 and December 2, 2007 at the Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Center, located in the very heart of the city. 76 galleries representing 16 countries exhibiting approximately 2,000 works by more than 375 artists will take part in this year’s fair.
Istanbul is a European Capital of Culture for the year 2010. With its key geographical location, the city serves as a natural connecting spot for thousands of collectors, curators, gallery owners, critics, and members of the press from around the world to convene and observe the latest trends in the art world. Set against the background of this elegant and charming city, Contemporary Istanbul has already made its mark on the cultural map of the region. The fair draws on this dynamic location to bring further attention to the emerging art scene in Turkey, and will continue to expand its scope in the upcoming years.

Fair Play
This year’s edition of Contemporary Istanbul is accompanied by a rich social and evening program, including “The Opening Party” at Otto Santral, featuring The Reptiles of Vancouver, Canada, on October 28; Contemporary Tribe: “The Closing Party” at the Old Railroad Terminal featuring DJ Food on November 1. Several VIP brunch and dinner programs, as well as private visits to museums and an exciting musical program of live performances by local and international artists are also part of Fair Play, the side event calendar of the Fair.
Fair Deal
