Another Map to Nevada boat rides: August 27, 28, and 29, 7:30–9:30pm CEST
Another Map to Nevada is a performative boat ride orchestrated by The Performance Agency. The project is presented within the frame of TOASTER, a collaboration between Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art and Husets Teater featuring artists from Denmark and abroad, who experiment with and contribute to the development of the performing arts.
This summer, for the first time, visitors will board a journey through Copenhagen’s waterways. As dusk breaks, they pass by performance pieces by contemporary artists, which unfold like wondrous sceneries along the riverbeds and bridges. On board, the tales of a narrator accompany the unfolding of the events and a soundscape envelops the moving vessel as performers enter and exit the picture. For a moment, the sky seems to light up. The city itself becomes a stage—immersing the viewer into an ever-changing present. Another Map to Nevada is an assent to the fleeting moment, an invitation to looking-up.
The Performance Agency is dedicated to the curation and production of site-specific performance formats. It unites artists from all fields to create collective spaces of experience that draw our attention to interstices, to the inexplicable, to the beauty of the everyday. Since its initiation in 2017, it has been informed by the artistic esprit of the avant-gardes at the origins of performance art. The boat ride has since become one of its signature formats: carefully staged performances arranged within an overall storytelling that allow audiences to traverse a world of imagination. The project was first realized under the title Between Points in Berlin in 2018, in collaboration with Supportico Lopez and Archivio Conz. The second iteration, Another Map to Nevada, Berlin was produced in July 2020.
Another Map to Nevada, Copenhagen is part of the CHART art fair program.
