Judd Foundation is pleased to announce that it has appointed Barbara Hunt as its new Director. Ms. Hunt, currently the Executive Director of Artists Space, New York, will assume her new post in late January 2006. She will work with the Foundation Board and staff to develop programs and initiatives that reveal the full breadth of Judds legacy.

Judd Foundation was created in 1996 by artist Donald Judds last will and testament to maintain and preserve his permanently installed spaces, libraries and archives in New York and Texas. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting a wider understanding of and appreciation for Judds artistic legacy by facilitating public access to these spaces and resources, and by developing scholarly and educational programs.

Ms. Hunt has been the Executive Director of Artists Space since January 2000, having previously worked as the Director of Visual AIDS, New York and Director of Camerawork Gallery Darkroom, London, UK. Following Art History and Gallery and Museum Studies at the Universities of Kent and Manchester respectively, she worked as a curator and arts administrator for over 19 years on both sides of the Atlantic.

Judd Foundation is based in New York City and Marfa, Texas. The Foundations New York City office is located at 101 Spring Street in the historic five-story cast-iron building which Donald Judd purchased in 1968 and where he lived and worked until his death in 1994. In addition to Judds own works, the building also houses the work of some of the most important artists of the mid-late 20th Century, including Judds contemporaries Dan Flavin, Carl Andre, Frank Stella and Claes Oldenburg. One of Ms. Hunts first projects will be the restoration and preservation of 101 Spring Street for present and future generations of artists and Judd scholars, patrons and enthusiasts.
