inSite is a network of contemporary art programs and commissioned projects that maps the channels of permeability and obstruction that characterize the liminal border zone of San Diego-Tijuana.
inSite_05/ Closing Weekend/ November 10-13
After more than two years of intense artistic collaboration, during which more than thirty commissioned projects and programs have activated new creative experiences in the urban fabric of the San Diego-Tijuana border zone, inSite_05s public phase is coming to an end.
The complexity of inSite_05, and the diverse strategies employed by the artists and curators, has engendered new relationships of public commitment, creative collaboration and trust between numerous co-participants, cultural agents and attendant audiences. While the physical display of the projects will end on November 13, many projects for inSite_05 will inevitably broaden and transform into other practices, becoming absorbed into other narrative threads and social flows that are not necessarily related to art.
The central component of this inSite_05 Closing Weekend is the concluding dialogues for Conversations that will bring together a number of acclaimed artists, curators, writers, and diverse practitioners. The discussions will center on themes related to contemporary citizenship, public domain and the configurations of urban space.
inSite is pleased to announce the program for Closing Weekend, the last of four Special Event Weekends planned for inSite_05.
