inSite is a network of contemporary art programs and commissioned projects that maps the channels of permeability and obstruction that characterize the liminal border zone of San Diego-Tijuana.

Opening Weekend/ August 26-28 Special Event Weekends/ September 22-24; October 21-23; November 11-13

After an unfolding two-year process of artist residencies, curatorial dialogue, open theoretical conversations and working sessions, inSite_05 invites you to join us this fall for Opening Weekend and a series of Special Event Weekends.
inSite_05/ Art Practices in the Public Domain opens the weekend of August 26, 2005 with a bold schedule of activities that reflects inSite_05s four key components Interventions, Scenarios, Conversations, and Museum Exhibition including urban interventions, online actions, live performance-based events, a two-city museum exhibition, a mobile archive, and dialogues and symposia. More detailed program information is available on the Visitors Page of the inSite_05 website. www.insite05.org/internal.php?pid=pid=2-49-134

As inSite_05 is not based on a biennial model, Opening Weekend is designed to provide a rich and varied menu of experiences rather than just tours of sited public projects. Our goal is to reveal, at least in part, the complex processes by which artists, curators, and practitioners from a wide range of fields have engaged with diverse publics and institutions.
Special Event Weekends:

During four key weekends of public programming August 26-28; September 22-24; October 21-23; November 11-13, inSite_05 will highlight two years of processbased work in San Diego-Tijuana. Projects commissioned for inSite_05 have been inserted in the social weave of the region at various levels of (in)visibility. Their physical manifestation during the public phase of presentation is in all instances driven by intricate artistic practices focused on co-participation and the utopian impulse to initiate collaborative networks.

We hope you will save the dates for Opening Weekend and Special Event Weekends. Each promises to be stimulating, eventful and highly memorable. Reservations for shuttles between events, artist intervention sites, and dialogues are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be made by contacting Maryann Moore via telephone at (619) 230 0005 X12 or via email at maryann@insite05.org
