For the first time in the Palace and Gardens of Versailles, two nights of an exceptional, free, art circuit.
French artists Jean-Michel Alberola, Daniel Buren, Marc Couturier, Pascal Cribier, Matali Crasset, Paul Mefano, Franck Scurti and Alain Sechas adore Versailles and have been working in the Main and Small Stables, the Grand Commun, the Orangerie, the gardens and the Mesdames’ Apartments.
The circuit designed as an ephemeral delight is an in situ creation in the spirit of the place and using the means it provides. It is a way of seeing more and differently, a caress by contemporary art, a moment of pleasure and enchantment.
Versailles Off is dedicated to those who love discovering, strolling, dreaming, being enchanted, staying out late.
Free admission. Start from Place d’Armes, in front of the Palace, where you will be given a map guide.
Exhibition curator: Laurent Le Bon, curator at the National Museum of Modern Art in the Georges Pompidou Centre.
Co-produced by the Etablissement Public du Musee et du Domaine National de Versailles and the Delegation for Plastic Arts at the National Centre for Plastic Arts, Ministry for Culture and Communication; in collaboration with Versailles Town Hall.
Nuit Blanche is sponsoring Versailles Off on 2 October 2004. For its third edition this Paris open-night event expands into Ile-de-France.
