19 best Slovenian contemporary fashion designers/tandems – clothing, purses, shoes, jewellery – gathered and chosen for the first time in a gallery showroom, is an exhibition we were all waiting for and had to happen! Fashion designers, who give tempo to Slovenian fashion happening, who change the Slovenian fashion consciousness, who have an unmistakable identity and a well-conceived style. Real fresh and no best-before date.
From the beginning of the nineties until today, Slovenian fashion design got a new face by confronting new challenges. The changed geo-political situation inspired the former, considering fashion, less developed Slovenia to a rather fast development, which resulted in important and intensive interactions between Slovenian designers, the trends and the happening abroad as well as the influx of foreign designers, mostly from former Yugoslavia. In the past ten years Slovenian fashion became an important part of the Slovenian design happening. Creations by Slovenian designers became popular and appreciated, the streets of Ljubljana changed their appearance by gaining new fashion shops, and Slovenian fashion designers became visible personalities with an unmistakable identity.

Our guest lecturers have many years’ experience in the fields of fashion journalism, trend searching, fashion buying, promoting fashion design, organizing exhibitions, festivals, competitions – all co-forming, establishing and directing the world fashion happening, and mainly working in Paris, London, New York and Tokyo: Diane Pernet (Paris, F), Producer and Director of fashion TV films, programmes and videos, founder of production company Disciple Films; Hannah Bhuiya (London, UK), Fashion Editor and Stylist for Tank Magazine; Andreas Bergbaur (Vienna, A), President and Founder of UNIT F (Austrian institute and gallery for the promotion of contemporary fashion design); Patrick van Ommslaeghe (Antwerp, B/ Paris, F), Fashion Designer; Robb Young (London, UK), Trend Scouter, Fashion Adviser and Journalist; Joseph Quartana (New York, USA), Fashion Buyer for the New York trendsetter shop Seven.
