The 11th annual Art Chicago, presented by Thomas Blackman Associates, assembles nearly 200 of the world’s most exciting modern and contemporary art galleries to present the work of more than 2,000 artists. The artists exhibited in the show range from the emerging to modern masters, offering something for casual viewers and art connoisseurs alike. In addition to continuing the International Invitational and Project Spaces, Art Chicago 2003 initiates a new collaboration with the Association of International
Photography Art Dealers. Also, Haagen-Dazs will present MATRIX X, an LED Light Installation by Erwin Redl, curated by Creative Time exclusively for Art Chicago 2003.
International Invitational
For the third consecutive year, the International Invitational will
showcase a selection of the world’s most innovative and influential galleries. Exhibiting many of the most exciting and important cutting-edge artists, the International Invitational focuses on a particular spectrum of current issues and trends electrifying the contemporary art market and offers Art Chicago visitors a unique, first-hand view of these latest developments in the realm of contemporary art.
Project Spaces
Also in its third consecutive year, the Project Spaces will offer
exhibiting galleries the opportunity to showcase additional work of a
chosen artist. These customized spaces include installation, video,
performance and other media that would not otherwise be seen in an art
fair booth.
Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD)
New this year is the collaboration with Art Chicago and the Association of
International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD). The partnership will add
to the existing important presence of photography at Art Chicago. From vintage to contemporary work, photography has continued to grow as a
significant medium in current art collecting around the world. A program
of lectures and panels based on fine art photography will also take
place at Art Chicago as part of this collaboration.
