Join us in September for Royal Academy Architecture Awards Week, September 12–16, 2022, to celebrate the Royal Academy Architecture Prize, and the Royal Academy Dorfman Award.
Royal Academy Architecture Awards Week is an international celebration of architecture at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. The week-long public programme will explore the future of architecture, bringing the four finalists of the Royal Academy Dorfman Award to London for a series of events featuring the Royal Academy Architecture Award Jury, and leading architects and designers.
Following a week of public events and private jury sessions, the winner of the 2022 Royal Academy Dorfman Award will be announced at a prize-giving ceremony that will also mark the official investiture of Renée Gailhoustet as a Royal Academy Architecture Prize-winner, in acknowledgment of her career-long contribution to generous public architecture.

Discover the inspiring work of this year’s Royal Academy Architecture Prize winner during this celebratory event. The evening will feature a lecture by Farshid Moussavi RA, introducing Renée Gailhoustet’s work to the wider public and a panel discussion with Peter Barber RA, Kate Macintosh, and Irénée Scalbert, looking at its relevance for housing design and cities today.
Rethinking Spaces: a workshop with the RA Dorfman Award finalists

An opportunity for professionals and non-professionals alike to join the Royal Academy Dorfman Award finalists and get a closer look at how architects work and respond to a brief. This will be an opportunity to work closely with the finalists to propose creative interventions to Royal Academy buildings and get first-hand experience of their different approaches, how they tackle collaboration and solve problems, all within a small group.

In this special event, the four finalists of the 2022 Royal Academy Dorfman Award, Apparata (UK), dot architects (Japan), Semillas (Perú) and Wallmakers (India) will present their diverse practices and explain how they approach building. Their presentations will be followed by a panel discussion amongst 2022 jury members including Peter St John and Cornelia Parker RA, and the announcement of the winner of the £10,000 award. Renée Gailhoustet, winner of the Royal Academy Architecture Prize will also have her prize medal presented to members of her family.
