Scholarship applications for our certificate programs are now open from January 16 to February 20. To apply, please complete this form. Applications should include a writing sample and a cover letter showcasing your intellectual interests and clarifying your need for financial relief. Applicants from the Global South will be automatically considered for 50 percent of scholarships. Half of our full scholarship recipients are from the Global South, and half are women.

Last year, we supported our Ukrainian applicants. To support the ongoing struggle of women and youth against the religious dictatorship in Iran, this season, we are offering two full scholarships to Iranian applicants, one female and one male, financed through a GoFundMe campaign.

In the past season, our Programs explored the works of thinkers like Vilem Flusser, Gilles Deleuze, Bernard Stiegler, and Gilbert Simondon. This season will feature seminars on George Bataille, Hegel, David Hume, Kant, Pierre Klossowski, and Plato. The New Centre’s upcoming spring/summer 2023 season will feature seminars by Franziska Aigner, J.-P. Caron, Ed Keller & Carla Leitão, Lindsay Lerman, Anna Longo, Vali Mahlouji, Cecile Malaspina, Jason Mohaghegh, Reza Negarestani, Will Scarlett, Daniel Sacilotto, Kazys Varnelis, Peter Wolfendale, and Mi You. For more information on our offerings, please visit our seminars page.

This season, we are also offering a Practical Writing Workshop. Formulated by Ross McElwain and Shionna Tregaskis, entirely focusing on techniques and processes for writing theory, fiction, and theory-fiction, culminating in the publication of works by guest lecturers and the enrolled participants.

In February, we are partnering with the artist Daniel Young & author Michael Turner to host six weekly seminars titled And Your Bird Can Sing: Theatre of the Algorithm and the After-Image of Social Media, focused on exploring the relationship between social media and cinema toward the production a work of experimental film. The guests include Hossein Derakhshan, Ganaele Langlois, Reza Negarestani, Mohammad Salemy, and Mi You. This project is generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.

Our partnership with Richmond Art Gallery on Incredible Machines 2022: Model is The Message is resulting in a book to be published this spring, featuring contributions from Franziska Aigner, Julieta Aranda, Elie Ayache, Xenia Benivolski, Benjamin Bratton, Jean-Pierre Caron, AA Cavia, Valentin Golev, Ed Keller, Katerina Kolozova, Anna Longo, Erica Love & Joao Enxuto, Vali Mahlouji, Cécile Malaspina, Ross McElwain & Jay Springett, Jason Mohaghegh, Romulo Moraes, Reza Negarestani, Mohammad Salemy, Rodolfo Sousa Ortega, Artemis Papachristou, Judy Radul, Patricia Reed, Cássia Siqueira, Stephanie Wakefield, Mi You, and Daniel Young.

After a pandemic-related delay, we will finally release a first-time English translation of François Laruelle’s Phenomenon & Difference by Lindsay Lerman in March. Visit here to preorder the book. This Season, Lerman will also be teaching a Seminar titled Nonknowledge: Introduction to Open Economies of Knowledge.

As a follow-up to a Seminar taught by Mohammad Salemy and Romulo Moraes, we are publishing a book titled What If? A Future History of Contemporary Art, featuring contributions from Seminar participants and some of its guests. After the success of Logiciel: Six Seminars on Computational Reason by AA Cavia, we will reprint the title in 2023.

Finally, we would like to congratulate some of our researchers and students for their achievements: Zenobio Almeida for being admitted to MA degrees at Hochschule für Künste Bremen, Alberto Jesus Ponce Catalan for receiving the award for best unpublished novel by the Chilean Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio, Ankur Yadav for receiving the Seed Award through the Prince Claus Fund and Lika Kareva for being approved for a Fulbright Scholarship.
