March 29–April 2, 2023
Established in 2005, SP–Arte—São Paulo’s International Art Festival—is a global arts event that brings together renowned art and design galleries, representing over 2,000 artists and attracting over 25,000 visitors during its five days in the historical Oscar Niemeyer Bienal Pavilion.
SP–Arte plays an essential role in Latin America’s art market and is regarded as the most relevant and prestigious event in Brazil. The Art Basel & UBS Art Market Report 2022 included Brazil in their research for the first time and brings relevant information about size and potential of this art scene:
Brazilian art dealers reported a 29 percent growth rate in sales in 2021 (18 percent being global aggregate average); Brazilians are committed collectors: with 54 percent collecting for over ten years, 30 precent from six to ten years, and 15 percent until five years; Brazilian HNW collectors have the largest collections, averaging 52 artworks (36 in the US, 30 in UK and Mainland China).
During SP–Arte week, local museums, cultural institutions and art galleries host a strong parallel pogram including panel discussions, exhibition openings, and special visits that offer an overview of São Paulo’s vibrant contemporary art circuit. A VIP Program is specially prepared for local and international collectors, professionals and partners of the fair featuring private collections, exclusive guided tours, and social events.
